This year the ASIM symposium took place at the Fraunhofer IWU in Chemnitz. Marc Kirberg presented the joint contribution of the Institute for Transport Logistics and colleagues from the Leibniz Institute for Labour Research (IfADo) on the topic of simulating mental stress in a logistics system. The Performance Centre for Logistics and IT, an initiative at the Dortmund research location to promote networking within research, enabled interdisciplinary cooperation between psychology (IfaDo) and logistics (ITL). In the process, as the helpful feedback at the conference confirmed to us, a completely new approach to integrating the mental resource of attention into the simulation emerged. The result of the contribution is an approach that will be used in future to map the effects of mental stress in the evaluation of work systems through simulation.
